LeBron Raymone James Sr. is an American basketball player who is a player for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Nicknamed King James he is widely considered to be among the top athletes of all time. He has often been compared with Michael Jordan in debates over who is the greatest basketball player. James has won four NBA Championships along with the four NBA MVP Awards as well as four NBA Finals MVP Awards and three All-Star MVP Awards. He is also the proud owner of the distinction of having two Olympic Gold Medals. James is the player with the highest points in the playoffs the second highest number of career points, and is the seventh player with the most career assists. The NBA All-Star has made the All-NBA Team 18 times, an all-time record. James was also named for be on the NBA All-Defensive First Team 5 times. There were ten NBA Finals, the most of any player in history. He was a part of eight in a row from 2011 until 2018. James was chosen for the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. He became the first NBA player to score 10,000 points, rebounds, along with assists by 2022. James was a player at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in his home town of Akron Ohio and was heavily touted by the national media as a possible NBA superstar. An aspiring pro, he was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft. He was named the NBA player of the year for 2004. Then he was one of the top players in the NBA and was awarded the NBA MVP award in 2009 and 2010. James was not able to secure a championship with Cleveland and then left the city in 2010 as an "free agent" in 2010. This decision was made during the television special The Decision.
