Born in Barbados, she grew up the joy of reggae, and even began singing as a child. Due to the chaos in her home and the arguments that her parents had with each other, she began to pursue music. Soon she decided she wanted to become a singer. She formed a musical group as a teenager and was able to have perform with producer Evan Rodgers who was highly impressed by the teenager's talents.
